RECIPE: Matcha Affogato

RECIPE: Matcha Affogato

Tools:
– Bamboo whisk (chasen)
– Bowl (chawan)
– Small cup for matcha
– Small dessert bowl + spoon

Ingredients:
– 2 tsp Ceremonial/Drinking grade matcha
– Matcha ice cream or vanilla ice cream (with a little matcha sprinkled on top or mixed in)
– Optional: 1 strawberry or raspberry for topping

Instructions:

  1. First, prepare a warm, strong matcha shot by whisking 2 tsp matcha powder with 15 ml of hot water (80–90°C / 176–194°F) using your bamboo whisk and bowl. Sift the matcha first to avoid clumps if desired.
  2. Scoop 1 ball of matcha ice cream or vanilla ice cream into a small dessert bowl.
  3. Add a strawberry or raspberry on top, if desired.
  4. Last but not least, pour the warm matcha shot over the ice cream.
